My wife and I recently decided to have an irrigation system installed to cover our entire yard which consists of trees, hundreds of plants, as well as a small grass backyard measuring 40’ x 30’. For the past 3 years, I have been manually moving sprinklers around the yard. Although I had the watering system down to a science, it took me close to 4 hours to water the entire yard. This included using two spigots simultaneously, multiple 100 foot hoses, setting up sprinkles on buckets to reach over some taller plants, and then putting everything away after the watering was done. I couldn’t go on vacation during the summer because I had to be at home to water my extensive landscaping. I called Whatcom Lawns since they have been maintaining (mow, fertilize, aerate, weed control, etc.) my lawn since moving into my house 3 years ago. Whatcom Lawns installed the irrigation system in 4 days and I am thrilled with the results. The crew tested the system to ensure the sprinkler heads provided full coverage, and explained in detail how to use the system by accessing an app on my phone. The crew filled in all of the trenches and took additional time to ensure my yard was left in perfect condition before the job was completed. The owner of Whatcom Lawns also stopped by a week after the installation to see if I had any further questions and to ensure I was completely satisfied. The system works so efficiently that it now takes less than 45 minutes to water my entire yard as opposed to hours when done manually. Working with Whatcom Lawns over the last three years has been a great experience. They are great at what they do and I look forward to having them maintain my yard for years to come.
I waited a while to write this review, but I think Whatcom Lawns is the real deal! When I bought my house, the backyard was a blanket of weeds. I had no idea how I’d ever have anything resembling a lawn back there, but from the day I met Steve, Whatcom Lawns was friendly, professional, responsive, and mindful of the watershed’s special considerations. After a year of yard treatments, I am now the proud (and honestly, kind of astonished) owner of a nearly dandelion-free yard. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Whatcom Lawns again.

I have used Whatcom Lawns for my fertilizing in moss care of my lawn for years. They’ve also done a number of small jobs for me. I found have found the crews technically proficient and very efficient at what they do. They are experts in the field and you can tell that by watching them. Any errors, and there are exceptionally few, are quickly corrected. Brian has been doing my yard for many years and not only is he proficient he is very pleasant to talk to. Whatcom Lawns (WL) has been providing lawn care services to us since August 2019, when we moved to our house in Blaine. WL has been responsive, such as quickly removing a tree downed after a recent windstorm. It has handled all care professionally, while observing the local COVID restrictions. The yard looks well cared for and all areas, including driveway and patio, are cleaned up after each visit. We have expanded the regular services and also ordered several special projects, all delivered within the proposed cost and timeline, which are always provided prior to the service. Steve will discuss the projects in person with us and videotape the yard in order to provide his crew with specific instructions. We are quite satisfied.

Last year we moved into a new place with an existing sprinkler system. We had NO idea how it worked but we made a call to Whatcom Lawns and they were out to help in no time. There were two nice men who thoughtfully and methodically went through each zone and adjusted sprinklers as needed. Our flower beds and lawns were perfectly watered the whole summer! Whatcom Lawn’s installed an irrigation system at our home that included (4) lawn zones, (3) flower bed zones, (2) garden zones and a new faucet located near the garden.
The proposal: Steve came to the house and we discussed the sprinkler / irrigation system. I knew what I wanted but had limited knowledge, he educated me on what was possible and we came up with a plan. Next day a member of his crew performed the measurements for the new system. A few days later the proposal with details and cost estimation arrived.
The installation: They obtained all permits and scheduled the project. All existing underground items – TV Cable, Electrical, Water, Sewer, & Gas lines were located and marked. Crew arrived on the agreed upon date. Sprinkler head locations and water lines were marked with spray paint. Ditches were dug, control box locations were dug, pipe laid. Where the ground had been disrupted, new grass seed was spread. It was amazing to watch how quickly they executed the plan.
The conclusion: Two weeks later the grass seed sprouted, the garden was planted and everything was on a timed watering system. Gone are the days with garden hoses all over the yard.
We had gotten other cost estimates, some higher, some lower, be we felt that Whatcom Lawns provided us the best overall value. We laid out a plan and they executed the plan with no issues.

We had a lawn disaster about 3 years ago. Finally called in Whatcom lawns for the whole meal deal. A sprinkler system, new (re-seeded) lawn and some more landscaping. They aren’t the least expensive, but their entire team is fantastic. The work is done well and quickly, out lawn now looks the the epitome of a Lynden lawn.
Whatcom lawns did our lawn for a year and always were pleasant and professional when I interacted with them but also didn’t get in the way at all. They also cut down and cleaned up a large amount of blackberry bushes, I wouldn’t have been able to do that on my own!
