Weeding of Planting and Flowering Beds

Landscaped beds should be maintained every two weeks to keep them nearly weed and debris free. Whatcom Lawns Inc. uses a variety of hand tools and powered trimmers and tillers to weed beds. Some beds require the hand pulling of weeds while others do well with line trimming and the broadcasting of a granular weed control product.

Weeds do not compete well with dense healthy soil, therefore the maintenance of a healthy thick bedding foundation and cover is very important in producing nearly weed free planting and flowering beds. Whatcom Lawns Inc. often recommends applying a minimum of 1.5 inches of mulch or fine bark as a top layer and decorative way to add density to planting and flowering beds.
